Class Period #26 Index to Quizzes Review Video
REVIEW - YOU CAN START ACTUALLY FLYING IN 2 WEEKS IF YOU FOCUS NOW AND GET THIS TEST DONE!!!
INTRO: Remember
these basic rules while doing VOR problems:
1 - Decide which RADIAL you are on by
looking OPPOSITE the To/From pointer!
2 - If there is neither a TO nor a FROM indication, you are 90 degrees
perpendicular from the OBS course selection
3 - The VOR receiver has NO IDEA which way you are headed! But...ASSUME
you are headed in the same direction as the OBS selection (at the top of the
indicator case)
4 - Use the paper method for an EASY way to determine approximately WHERE your
aircraft is:
- cover the half of the case that the To/From indicator points at, because you
are NOT there! (you are going there...)
- then cover the half of the case the CDI is on, because this is where you are
NOT!
- your aircraft is then located in the only 1/4 of the compass that is left
showing
BIG TOPIC #1:
Applying VOR knowledge to actual problems on the test:
1 - Question 9-20: aircraft location while tuned to a specifi VOR
2 - Question 9-25: OBS selection to navigate directly TO a VOR
3 - Question 9-26: which of the 9 VOR indications is correct for this situation?
4 - Question 9-27: direction of aircraft from a VOR with CDI deflection
5 - Question 9-28: another like 9-26; choose the correct VOR indication
6 - Question 9-32: VOR Test Signal (think of always trying to go to where it's
warm, like SOUTH!)
