Descendants of Henry Whicker

Notes

1683. Ellis Ivy Whicker

BIRTH and DEATH from Maj Carl Whicker

1691. Grant Wicker

I believe Grant and Charles E. are twins. I actually have no proof s yet that
Grant is a son of John P. Wicker, and need to do further research on this
particular relationship.
This family lived in Shelby Co., Indiana in the 1900 census, E.D. 125, Pg. 4.
Grant owned a mortgaged farm at that time. rcw

1700. Thomas Henry Whicker

Thomas and Matilda had had two children at the time of the 1900 census in Van
Buren Twp., Shelby Co., Indiana, E.D. 126, pg. 2. One child was deceased at
that time. We need to find him. rcw

1708. "Poss." William F. or T. Wicker

William owns a mortgaged farm right next door to David and Frances O. Wicker.
No proof as yet that he is their son. He states in the 1900 census of Shelby
Co., Indiana, (Van Buren Twp.) that they have been married for 3 years. rcw

1775. Daniel V. Wicker

From information given to me by Mike Parsons through the work of Norman Scott:
"Dan and Myrtle settled in Rush Co., Indiana. I have no idea who
raised Dan. They had four children." Mike states that this family lived
in Stylesville.
There is a problem with the records of this family in our files, however. The
1900 census of Shelby Co., Indiana lists Daniel's mother, Marinda Melissa,
living with Daniel.
We know that the Daniel in Mike Parson's records is a son of Marinda, and now we
know that THIS Daniel was a son of Marinda, so we assume that the two Daniels
are one and the same, especially since a brother to Daniel (known to be another
son of Marinda's) was also living with Daniel and his family in 1900. Another
indication that this is the right Daniel is that the wife's parents are listed
as being born in the same states as the Daniel who is supposedly married to
Myrtle!
BUT, the 1900 census gives Daniel's wife's name as Mary L. Wicker, rather than
Myrtle. Mary L. was b. Sep. 1877 in Indiana, father b. Indiana and mother b.
Ohio.
This census also shows a daughter named Mary P. Wicker, b. Nov 1899 in Indiana,
who is not on our records. The children listed here are : Hallie,
Ernest, Frances and Charles. At least some of these children should have been
born by 1900!
So, who is Myrtle? Could she have been an earlier wife? If so, were they
divorced or did she die? If she died, where are Hallie, Ernest, Frances and
Charles, who were very young in 1900? There are also children mentioned by
Mike Parsons named Dessie (who md. Israel Long) and Phyllis. (Dessie may
possibly be the same person as Hallie, since Hallie also married a Long.) rcw

Mary L.

Mary L. Wicker is in the 1900 census as the wife of Daniel V. Wicker. The Wicker/Whicker book does not mention this first marriage, or the daughter born to this couple, Mary P., b. Nov. 1899 in Indiana. The 1920 has been searched by Wicker/Whicker book reference researchers, but not the 1910, which should tell us more about what happened to little Mary P. Wicker. rcw

2207. Mary P. Whicker

Name and date taken from 1900 census, Shelby Co., Indiana. Mary's father
supposedly also was married to a Myrtle, with other children, and they were
supposed to have settled in Rush Co., Indiana. Needs more research. rcw

1778. Henry Wyatt Wicker

From information given to me by Mike Parsons through the work of Norman Scott:
"Henry was the youngest and was raised by a family named Sullivan when
his father died."
"It has not yet been determined just how they were related. There
was a tie between the Gibsons and the Sullivans and a connection between
the Wicker/Whickers and the Gibsons, at least through the Meredith
family. Some new information I (Mr. Scott) have received does contain
one or more marriages between Whickers and Sullivans in the time period
of interest. Henry was my grandfather." (Note: Mr. Scott is now
deceased, but was working on this problem at the time he had to quit.)
Henry was a farmer, but usually farmed for his brother in law, Alonzo Gibson,
and never owned land of his own. rcw

2211. Robert Ramon Wicker

From information sent to me by Mike Parsons, and gathered by Norman Scott who
is now deceased:
"Bob married Cora Hart twice and Ethel _________ twice, and is now working on
the first time with a Korean woman. Bob operated glass bottle manufacturing
machines at Owens, Illinois and Alton Illinois for more than 40 years."
There are more stories in my file, labeled "Parsons, Mike" about this man. rcw
