The IGI shows a Susan A. Underwood, b. 7 Dec 1871 in Unionville, Appanoose
Co., Iowa to a Thomas Underwood and Eveline C. Lemons. This couple also had
other children, all born between 1858 and 1876. There may be a relationship
here that should be investigated, since Appanoose County is so prevalent in our
genealogical history. rcw
The exact birthdate and place and the middle name for Oscar were found in the
International Genealogical Index (IGI) and the source given was LDS Church
Membership records of deceased persons. This record needs to be looked at for
more information. rcw

The Reeves family appears to be Quaker, and is found in the Monthly Meeting in
Hamilton County 1888-1891. rcw
This family was Quaker. rcw
In the Death Records of Hamilton Co.,Indiana, there is a Roy E. Wicker who died in 1913 in Washington Twp., and I have listed that date as belonging to this Herman Leroy Whicker. It may prove to be wrong, but the age and place and family are appropriate. rcw
The 1917 year of death is taken from Death Records of Hamilton Co.,Indiana, F#1266798. The 1914 year came from the Wicker/Whicker book. However, her age at death is listed as 15, so I suspect the 1917 is correct. rcw

ONE SOURCE FROM GRANDMA (Beulah Blanche King) WHICKER SAYS THE BIRTHDATE FOR JOHN WESLEY WHICKER WAS
2 DEC 1865. HOWEVER, THE 12 FEB 1865 DATE IS ALSO FROM HER RECORDS. NEEDS TO
BE CHECKED OUT. (This difference arises from the manner of writing dates: is
12/02/65 Dec. 2nd, or Feb 12th?
!DEATH: gravestone in Fairview Cemetery, Appanoose County, Iowa
!BIRTH: gravestone in Fairview Cemetery, Appanoose County, Iowa; however, the
birth register, p. 349, shows birth as 28 Feb 1865!
Note on Mar 18, 1996: The 1900 Census states the birthmonth as February. It
still adds to the confusion, however, by stating the birthYEAR as 1863! It
seems most likely that John Wesley's wife gave the information to the
enumerator and she wasn't sure of his birthyear. rcw

On the 1920 census of Appanoose Co., Iowa, Dewey's middle name is listed as
Mervin. This seems more likely than the "Merline" that was in the
Wicker/Whicker book.

Velma is listed as a "stepdaughter" to John Wesley in the 1920 census. This
answers the question of her birth occurring before John and Belle's marriage.
Normally, being listed as a "step-daughter" would indicate her relationship
to the head of the house, but since Velma's mother was born in Missouri,
according to the census, and her father in Iowa, we must assume that in this
case, "step-daughter" refers to her relationship with the wife of John W.
Whicker. Another marriage may be found for John Wesley in Appanoose County.rcwVelma married a Glatfelder, but her name is not in the Glattfelders In America
book. rcw
Trenton is not in the Glattfelders in America book. The name is sometimes
spelled Gladfelder. rcw
