In the Whicker/Wicker book, Julius is listed as the oldest child, born in
Georgia in 1823. This is obviously an error, as in the 1860 census, he is
listed as 31 years old, born in Alabama, and just younger than Robert who is
listed as 32 years old.He lived in Macon County, Alabama 1860 and Lee County, Arkansas in 1880. rcw
The birthplace for John Wiley Whicker is given in the IGI as Alexander City,
Tallapoosa Co., Alabama. Need to correspond with submitter: Batch #7825704-60.
William's name is in the IGI, which gives his exact birthdate and the
birthplace of Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas. However, the W/W book states that
William and Lucinda were both born in Alabama. The IGI Batch No. is 7825704,
pg. 56, Film #1126394. rcw
1400. James (Jim) Wiley Wicker
This child found in the IGI. Batch No. 7825704, p. 56; Film #1126394. James
(Jim) is not included in the W/W book. rcw
Lucinda P. Wicker does not show up in the IGI as a child of John Wiley Wicker
and Mary Ann Brannon. Her birthdate, which is given in the W/W book as 1833,
cannot be correct IF she is a child of John Wiley Wicker's. We need to find
out for sure who she is. Until then, I have estimated a birthdate of 1873. rcw
Sallie May is not in the W/W book as a child of John Wiley Wicker. This
record was found in the IGI, Batch #7825704, pg. 49. It seems a mystery to me
that this child was born in Alabama if the others were born in Texas. Note
that their father, John Wiley, died in Texas. Perhaps the other three
children's birthplaces are incorrect; perhaps they were actually born in
Alabama also. This needs to be checked out. And why was their last child born
11 years after the others? Mary Ann was 45 in 1886, and John Wiley was 59.
WRITE TO THE SUBMITTER. rcw
There is a news item from a Waxahachie newspaper dated 24 Jun 1897 which states:
"Miss Minnie Wicker of Alvarado is visiting relations and the Misses Haynes." It is headlined "RED OAK NEWS". I am not positive it refers to this Minnie. rcw

he moved to Macon Co., Alabama with his parents. He was a confederate soldier
