William entered service 1777 in Granville Co., North Carolina under Gen.
Copwell to suppress Tories at Black Swamp, Anson County, NC. He volunteered in
1778 under Capt. Pearce to attack Tories in Randolph Co., NC. He was in the
Battle of Camden. Marched under Gen. Davidson to Sloan's Ford. In 1779, he
was drafted for one year in NC State Troops in Guilford Co. Marched to SC
under Col. Armstrong ad Gen. Greene. He was also in the Battle of Eutaw
Springs. On 7 Nov 1826 he applied for a pension, while living in Warren Co.,
Ohio. He stated that he had six children living. He lived in Guilford Co
until 1809 and then in Fayette Co., Ohio and later in Warren County, Ohio.
Witnesses to the pension claim were Daniel Cain of Warren County and James W.

Thomas served in the North Carolina Militia in the Revolutionary War. In 1790
he was living in Granville County and moved to Stokes County before 1800 and to

Lived in Fayette Co., Ohio 1830 and 1840 censuses. rcw
William was drafted in 1778 in Granville Co., NC and served in Col. William
Moore's Regt. at the Battle of Rugley's Mills. Enlisted 1781 soon after Battle
of Guilford and served three months as a substitute for his brother, James
Whicker, in Capt. Hester's NC Comany. Near the end of the war, he enlisted for
3 months in Capt. James Blackwell's Co. in Wake County. He was allowed a
pension on application executed 4 Oct 1832 while he was a resident of Jefferson
Twp., Fayette Co., Ohio. Pension File S17194. After the war ended, he moved
to Stokes Co., then in 1802 to Greene Co., Ohio, and in 1804 to Fayette Co.,
Ohio. Testators to pension application were John McKillip, John Biddle,
Richard Fancher and George Ruggles, all of Fayette County. (From the

parentage of Thomas and of his wife, Mary ______. She may be, however, Mary
