The following information is taken from the History of Washington County, GA:
"Robert lived in Granville and Anson Counties, NC, Chesterfield Co., SC and
Columbia Co., GA before taking up land grants in Washington Co. totaling 2400
acres in 1786, 1789 and 1795. He and his family were received into membership
of a church, 7-19-1784. He was commissioned to build the present Bethlehem
Baptist Church in April 1796."
Robert served as Pvt. in Chesterfield Co., SC Militia in Jan 1777 under Capt.

Robert and Hannah and many of their children moved westward to the Louisiana
Purchase in 1806.

Hannah to Missouri in 1806 with husband, Dempsey Holland.
Received bounty land in Washington County by 1790. Removed to Missouri about
1806 with Robert Wicker. Helped settle the present site of Warthen, GA, and
before 1800 erected the first store in Warthen. The site eventually became

Chatham County on Gum Fork and Cowpen Creek, the prongs of Lick Creek, on
Thomas Wicker's line, by Richard Caswell, Esq., Governor of North Carolina. rcw

Rd., Jacksonville, FL 3227-1515, submitted this information:"John Ashley Wicker could be this son of John and Nelly Wicker. He was born
about the right time, and he is the only unconnected John that we have. John
Ashley Wicker is buried near Hurtsboro, Russell Co., Alabama. The gravestones
are marked "Our Uncle" and "Our Aunt". He was b. 1798, d. 1885. His wife was
Sarah S. Johnson, dau of Samuel and Rosamond (Spinks) Johnson, b. 1807, d.
1885. John had a distinguished record of service. He was appointed Justice of
the Peace 2 Mar 1839 for Chambers Co., AL. On 24 Mar 1847, he was appointed
Constable for Russell County. He was a Sergeant in Houses's Company, Webb's
Alabama Mounted Infantry and a Lieutenant in Baldwin Co., AL Militia as noted
in THE WICKER FAMILY OF THE SOUTH by Foxx.
!John Ashely Wicker bought land from the Indians in the Emory Chapel area of
the Alabama Terr. His first purchase was on 18 Dec 1834 for Twp 32N, Rg 27E,
Sec. 1E. On 29 Apr 1841, he purchased land from Choo lar Fixico, on an Indian
Reservation.
Benjamin was given guardianship over his brother, Ansel William's, three minor children when Ansel W. died in 1827. rcw
